05/31/2010: "Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim Press Release"

Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim
Press Release 31st May 2010

Notwithstanding the unsavory comments on the volatile situation as brought by the Manipur Government the Naga people’s attachment to the issue is revealing in the manner the nation demanded. 0n 29th May when the Naga civil society groups met at Viswema to take stock of the situation they voiced their conscience vociferously to give unfailing support to NSCN General Secretary Th.Muivah as he challenged the Nagas to take the Naga issue to its logical conclusion. Taking a strong stand the Naga societies expresses their readiness to face the reckless opposition to their historical and political rights.

The Convenor of Naga Parliamentarians Forum and former MP Mr.Charanamei who led a seven member team to the consultative meeting at Viswema gave the reason why the forum was formed and why the seven Naga MLAs resigned from the Manipur Legislative Assembly. While fully acknowledging the leadership of Muivah Charanamei said, when the ADC election issue was already at its boiling point the program of Muivah’s visit to his native place came up. But when the despicable act of terrorism was started on 6th May 31, 2010 at Mao Gate their conscience was greatly disturbed and hurt.Cairanamei was also at pain to point out that Manipur Chief Minister Ibobi make a fool of the Centre’s direction when he passed a Cabinet Resolution to ban Muivah’s entry to Manipur when he was in fact asked to go back to make necessary arrangement for Muivah’s safe passage.” This hurts us very much” Charanamei said. To compound their hurt feeling after violence was perpetrated against the Naga women folks by the Manipur Police Commandos no Manipur-based political parties exercise the courtesy to visit the victims and the displaced persons, rather they focused only in condemning the Muivah’s visit to Somdal, he added.” When the political leaders failed to understand the Naga issue and acted in selfish manner we cannot sit quite but to form a forum through which we can talk to anyone willing to understand us and also lobby with the government of India” he said.
He further said that they were shocked when the Manipur Commandos were not replaced by Para-military forces at Mao Gate and other vulnerable places as assured by Union Home Secretary GK.Pillai, Chief Secretary of Manipur and GOC,57 Mountain Division.

Artax Shimray, Convenor of the UNC Coordinating Committee expresses concern on how the Manipur government is subjugating the non-locals in Manipur valley in collaboration with the Revolutionary People’s Front, forcing them to quit the valley in thousands. Is the Government of India willing to listen ?
Naga Hoho President Keviletuo also made clear his conscience when he said, “no room to live with the Meiteis as a family, no more to be together”. “Despite criticism we shall stand our ground” he declared.
NSF President Mutsikhoyo Yhobu minced no words when he said the NSF shall stand by its long standing commitment to unify the Nagas for the glory of the Nagas.

Coordinating Committee for Naga Civil Societies(CCNCS) Convenor Mr.Neingulo Krome also said,” the volatile situation has gone beyond economic blockade”, giving the indication that the Nagas are not going to rest and will go on exploring every option.

In the same manner all the Naga civil societies gave their own commitment not to waver under any circumstances, till the forces that had antagonize the Nagas are brought to its knees.

Imphal, May 30 2010: In a bid to sensitise the public with the facts of the May 6 Mao Gate firing incident, the Media Cell of Tangkhul Co-ordination Committee (TCC) organized a video screening here at TNL ground, where a recorded speech of Th Muivah, General Secretary of NSCN was also screened.

More than 10,000 people from all walks of life came to witness the video screening.

Some of the highlights of the video footage are : Muivah entering Viswema village, silent protest of the Naga people of the areas at Mao, IRB and Commando personnel of Manipur harassing and firing towards the peaceful protesters and the last funeral rites of the two victims—Loshou and Chakho—attended by many Naga civil organizations, mass protest at Mao denouncing the excess of Manipur Government, burning down of effigies of O Ibobi, NSUD storming Manipur Bhavan, and reaffirming their stand to welcome Muivah under any circumstances etc.

Gates erected at Ukhrul for the anticipated visit of Muivah

Exclusively speaking to The Sangai Express on the sidelines of the occasion, the convenor of TCC who is also the President of Tangkhul Naga Long, N Solomon said it has been felt necessary to initiate such programme to expose the truth behind the May 6th Mao Gate incident where peaceful Naga protestors demanding their rights were brutally assaulted by the Manipur State police forces claiming the lives of two Naga innocent students, Loshou and Chakho.

While appealing to the media in the State to stick to the ethics of journalism, the Convener alleged that especially, the Imphal Valley-based scribes who were stationed at the spot failed to expose the factual picture of the incident.

When the State Government has been reeling under the grip of security personnel, both State and Central forces for a long time it is hard to imagine and nothing can be so unfortunate than the manner in which valley civil society organizations had to remain silent without any effort to even condemn the brutal act of State commandos and IRB personnel who killed the two civilians so far, the Convener rued.

The Naga civilians were protesting against the State forces who were deployed by the Chief Minister to prevent Th Muivah from entering Manipur in a peaceful and democratic way, however with the barbaric act of the security personnel, two precious lives of the Nagas were snuffed out on that fateful day, he recalled.

More than 20 journalists were present at the spot while the unfortunate incident took place on May 6th, 2010.However, compromising their journalistic ethics, none of the Imphal valley-based reporters came out with the true picture of the incident, he said adding "This kind of report is a tailored story which is biased in nature".

The visit of Th.Muivah to his birthplace was willingly agreed by the Government of India knowing that Muivah is a peace negotiator but unfortunately, Ibobi had to show his confrontationist attitude by pumping a large number of state security personnel just to claim two innocent lives, he said adding that such act was like sending troops to the borders of other countries like China, Pakistan etc to wage a war.

"We the public can all go and ensure a free and safe passage of our leader, Th.Muivah to his home visit to Mao Gate but since we do not like to indulge in violent activities, we had to look for a very peaceful way out and the delay in his visit does not mean that our hope to receive him with warm and befitting reception has dwindled, he said.

On the issue of ADC election which has been boycotted by the Naga Civil society organization, the President, TNL said "action would be initiated sooner or later according to the resolution that has been adopted recently and with the directive of Naga Hoho and UNC" .

The Chief Minister of Manipur knows for himself the defect that has occurred in the present form of ADC Act and this can be easily be proved by his statement that necessary amendment or rectification will be made after the election but why can't he do the required things before the election based on the demand of the tribal people of Manipur, is not this a clear indication that Mr.Ibobi is not working for the welfare of the tribal people," he questioned.

If we could have waited for more than 20 years to conduct ADC election in the hill areas of Manipur, how come all of a sudden that Ibobi had to decide the 'go-ahead' with ADC election against the will of the people for whom such election has to be held and this is a clear message that Ibobi has in him a harmful intention for the hill people of the state, he asserted.

Meanwhile during a brief interaction with the leaders of NSCN, who were irked by the alleged biasness of the media report of the present issues concerning ADC election and the proposed visit of Th.Muivah to his birthplace, the latter urged that Manipur media should work without any partiality to deliver the accurate story about any incident.

Very often, we have been branded as the mastermind of any issues related to the Nagas but the reality is that we have always been rather supporting the civil society organizations who work for the welfare of the public, they said.

Citing the prevailing situation that stems from ADC election and the proposed visit of Muivah, the leaders said, "we will continue to support the demands of the Nagas who are working for the welfare of the people".

The Sangai Express also met the DC of Ukhrul, Ashok Kumar who maintained that the law and order situation of Ukhrul is under control as of now.

On asking what steps are being taken over the possible of the present issue that has also resulted in public agitations like burning down of government offices in the district, he said every efforts is being initiated to prevent any untoward incident adding that it is however hard to predict the emotions of public that may erupt any time. The DC further stated that many government files have been lost in the fire and creates a lot of inconveniences and hardship for the locals.

Although the exact lost incurred in the district due to people's agitation so far in the district could not be available since it is under scanner to give the actual report, damages have been caused to 7 government offices and 3/4 vehicles of police department.

As per record of DC office, Ukhrul, the office buildings that have been found during the present impasse of Muivah's visit to his native place are SDO office Kamjong, SDO office, Phungyar and SDO office, Chingai, Ukhrul sericulture office, BDO office, LM Block, SDO office, Kasom Khullen, ZEO office, Ukhrul.

With the spirit of welcoming Muivah still soaring still high, many welcome gates are erected at Ukhrul Hqs and every village in the district.

Many banners and posters with the slogans "Th.Muivah, Ato Kilongser of GPRN Nagalim Must Come to His Native Place", "Homage to the departed soul of Loshou & Chakho – Your sacrifice will not be in vain", "Respect the Uniqueness of Naga history".

"Nagas oppose imposed legislation", "Remove all state forces from Nagalim", "Long Live Th.Muivah, Ato Kilongser, Nagalim & Dr.Manmahon Singh, PM of India", "Nagas are integrated and Unified with the supreme sacrifice of the heroes at Mao Gate", etc are seen at Ukhrul town.

While there are many volunteers at many strategic points to check vehicles for security reason, women in traditional attire are staging a sit-in protest at Gandhi Chowk Phungreitang every day since May 8th to demand the visit of Th.Muivah to his birth place.

Speech of Th Muivah at Viswema meet
If you do not stand your ground for your right, you are a lost Nation. I believe we have a bright future and we have to work towards that goal. I will never deceive nor back-slide from the commitment I have undertaken for my people and I also implore you all to stand firm on your ground too.

"Our" time is approaching very near and it is indeed very certain that we will overcome all obstacles and the long cherished dream of the Naga people will soon be at hand. We are God's chosen people/Nation and if God be with us who can be against us? If you want to do something for the Nagas, Do It Now.Open Letter to O. Ibobi Led-Government and the People of Kangleipak
The Chamdil:
The 29th May, 2010

In public interest to the whole ethnic groups of Manipur and India, the Chandel Naga Civil Society Co-ordination Core Committee (CNCSCCC) poses a few questions to Ibobi Led-government as an eye-opener.

Recalling, historical errors of the Meiteis “Treaty of Yandaboo, Feb. 24, 1826” taken into consideration, the Meiteis Maharaja(s) sold and sell themselves and land without prior information to Nagas in particular and the tribal people in general but the Nagas/Tribals had fought and continues to fight for our rights and ownership of our own land till date vice-versa as fought by the Meitei/Valley brethren.

If at all, claims are to be made sincerely, Wangkhei, Langkonching, Lamlong, Sawombung etc. are all settlements of Nagas (please read “A short history of the Indigenous communities of Kangleipak Vol-II” by the League of fourth world people Kangleipak).

For now, we ask the following questions and would like to know answers from Ibobi led-Government as soon as possible.

1). Geography of Manipur Nagas:
Statistical Booklet of Manipur, Forest 2008
Hill area - 20,089 sq/km (20,089-4570 Ccpur) = 15,519 Nagas Land
Hill People- 8, 82,130 (8, 82,130-2,227,905Ccpur) = 6, 54,225 Nagas Population
Valley area- 2,238 sq/km
Valley Population – 14, 11,766

2). Dominant Nagas inhabiting District of Manipur including 27 villages in Henglep Sub-Division, Ccpur District as per 2006 Hills House Tax submitted to the govt of India.

3). In Manipur Legislative Assembly there are 60 MLAs out of which 7 Naga MLAs had resigned. What process has the Assembly, Speaker taken up so far as per the code and procedure of Manipur State Legislative Assembly? Is this constitutionally functional?

What processes has been taken up by the Ibobi led-Govt regarding the resignation of 7 (seven) Naga MLAs in connection with the cabinet decision taken against the visit of Th. Muivah to his Birthright Place Somdal Village Ukhrul district Manipur?

4). In India, there are no Outer and Inner Parliamentary seats except Manipur. Who created Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary seats? Is there any article/clause in the constitution of India where such room is inserted? The motive of creating such Parliamentary seats which is questionable as it creates a room for exclusive and inclusive division among the communities of Manipur. The existing Govt. must give a befitting answer to all the citizens concerned.

5). Has Ibobi forgotten “when, where, how and why” the NSCN/GPRN functionaries at IT-Road were released by himself? The incident signifies that there is “Ceasefire in Manipur” and Mr. Ibobi himself knows it but he is a “black-sheep” to “Indo-Naga” talks.

6). Ibobi‘s SPF led-Govt. is a criminal govt. since MLA of Andro, Shyamsunder was jailed at Tihar Jail, caught as UNLF Secretary. Why to talk about other people when SPF led-govt. has criminals including K. Ranjit, Works Minister as we all know how he had learned to shoot a gun at AG Advocate while returning from Ukhrul to Imphal after attending the Luira Festival-2010 along with TD-Minister DD. Thaisii. Surprisingly, valley-based insurgents were caught at MLAs bungalow Babupura-Imphal. But so far the Govt. of Manipur has not taken any legal action against those MLAs who sheltered/harbor the UGs. This prove the state Govt. is encouraging/supporting the unlawful insurgents for there own wasted interests. Has K. Ranjit Works Minster forgotten his criminal records? Let him not speak of other people but be ashamed of himself and tender resignation thereof.

7). Yambem Laba’s press article (Muivah-A Homecoming Too Far) published in the local dailies including “Hueiyen Lanpao Dated: 25th May, 2010” is disgusting/sarcastic with false propaganda. Has he forgotten how the NSCN/GPRN initiated the release of the then DC-Chandel Y. Thamkishore. Moreover, does he forget how the weapons of 11 (eleven) deceased NSCN (IM) cadres at Pallel by communal ruffians/notorious IRBs of Ibobi govt. were returned to NSCN (IM)?

8). Ibobi is Anti-Tribal and Anti-Naga, by holding ADC Elections in the midst of ‘ECONOMIC BLOCKADE” and authorizing the killing of 2 (two) innocent lives at Mao gate on 6th May, 2010. Manipur speaks of removing AFSPA and Irom Sharmila dying of AFSPA….. But, Ibobi imposes “self-style AFSPA” at Mao gate even now and as well as at Tamenglong-Noney area. History prevails, GOI fears Nagas. Who is Ibobi?

9). Why Ibobi sent S.P. Imphal East on 26th May, 2010 to Chandel without prior information to S.P. Chandel? Is S.P. Imphal East Police CDO superior and more powerful than S.P. Chandel? Ibobi forgets that commandos are not allowed in the 5 (five) Hill Districts and he is inviting more problems!

10). The proposed KCP (Lallumba) designated camp at 8th MR, Leikun Chandel by Ibobi govt. is a policy of taking over tribal land and creating communal disturbance. The Chandel people will never accept and Ibobi will be responsible for any untoward incidents.

11). DGP Joykumar is responsible for the killings of innocent people and injuring hundreds, thousands. He must read “The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes” (prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989), morally and justifiably should be punished by law. Had DGP is forgotten the ethic of police (P=politeness, O=Obedience, L=Loyalty, I=Intelligent, C=Courage and E=Endeavor). But the DGP has turn the abbreviation of police as (P= phattaba, O=Oktaba, L=Lanpamba, I=Isoulanghanba, C=Corruption phamba, E=Enai taba pamba).

The DGP as a law enforcement officer should remember that, his fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception; the weak against oppression or intimidation; and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all men to liberty, equality, and justice. Here, the big question is whether he upholds the above statement while discharging his duty.

12). UCM does not have the right to question “NAGA HOHO”? It is the mouth piece of Ibobi and Meiteis only. The UCM does not represent the Naga. Therefore, the UCM should be given an abbreviation as United Committee for Meities (not Manipur).

13). Therefore, the Meitei community should stop Cultural Relationship/Ties with the Nagas especially the Tangkhuls for objection to Th. Muivah, Ato-Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN who is a native of Somdal Village, Ukhrul District in view of the following Customs, viz;
a). The Meitei Community must not use “LEIROOM” (Tangkhul cloth pattern) in their marriage and also must not use “KARAO PHI”
b). “KANGLEI HARAOBA” must stop using “Tangkhul Tokpa” Practice.
c). Many other customary practice linked to Naga brethren must cease henceforth.

The above cited points should be taken for introspection and answerable to Ibobi led-govt. with facts and figures, without diluted political options.

This is clear message for all to understand and know that Nagas cannot be underestimated at any point. We have a unique History and Cultural known to the whole world.

Govt to go ahead with ULFA talks R Dutta Choudhury Assam tribune
GUWAHATI, May 30 – Though the Assam Government has decided to go ahead with the peace process to bring the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) to the negotiation table, no decision has yet been taken on suspension of the counter-insurgency operations.
Highly placed official sources told The Assam Tribune that Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram has authorized the State Government to go ahead with the peace process, but at the same time, he made it very clear that the counter-insurgency operations should continue and strict action should be taken against anyone found to be indulging in unlawful activities.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is of the view that there should be no let-up of the counter-insurgency operations to keep the situation under control and prevent deterioration of the overall law-and-order scene in the state. However, with the improvement of the overall situation in Assam and deterioration of the scene in some of the states hit by violence by Maoist groups, the Centre was forced to withdraw some central forces from Assam. But during a recent review of the security scenario, it was observed that the forces available with Assam now were adequate to deal with the situation considering the fact that several militant groups including the DHD (J) and the KLNLF surrendered arms in recent months to express their desire to solve the problems through talks.
The MHA has also authorised the State Government to go ahead with the political process and the Centre would extend all possible help in this regard. However, sources said that so far neither the State Government nor the Central Government nor the security agencies have not yet received any positive indication of the ULFA commander in chief Paresh Baruah softening his stand on the issue of talks with the Government. The Government also does not have definite information about his whereabouts. “It is a known fact that Paresh Baruah used to shift from Yunan province of China to Myanmar frequently. Recently, the intelligence agencies found footprints of the ULFA leader in Bangladesh but it is hard to believe that he will stay in Bangladesh for a long period under the present circumstances,” sources added.
Sources said that the threat posed by Maoists and jehadi forces was highlighted by a presentation given to the Union Home Minister by the Assam Police during his recent visit to the state. However, there has been no concrete evidence of the activities of such groups in recent times. It is a fact that the Maoists will definitely try to make inroads in Assam, but the security agencies are yet to come across any concrete evidence of Maoist activities in Assam.
Sources admitted that the threat of jehadi groups cannot be overlooked but the State Government or the Central Government or security agencies have not come across reports of movement of large number of youths of such groups in recent times. It is a fact that in the aftermath of the Babri Masjid demolition and the communal riots in Barpeta and Bongaigaon in 1994, a number of youths of a particular community were taken to Pakistan for training by the jehadi groups including the Harkat ul Mujaheedin (HUM). But the network of the HUM in the state was smashed following the arrest of suspected agents of the Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in 1999 and in recent times, there has been no evidence of such movement of youths to Pakistan for training, sources admitted.
Meanwhile, on the issue of talks with the NSCN (I-M), sources said that though talks being held, there was not much progress as the Government of India had categorically ruled out the possibility of creation of Greater Nagalim. Sources said that there was not much of a chance of the talks progressing till the outfit gave up the demand for creation of Greater Nagalim. However, talks would continue and the next round of talks would be held in Kohima, sources added.
Fresh round of talks with NSCN-IM on Tuesday in Nagaland Indo-Asian News Service
Government negotiators begin fresh talks on Tuesday in Nagaland with the Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM), the state's dominant separatist group, aimed at ending nearly six decades of insurgency.
New Delhi's main peace interlocutor R.S. Pandey will meet NSCN-IM leaders in Kohima. This is the first time talks are being held in Nagaland since a ceasefire in August 1997 between the two sides.
"The talks are expected to discuss wide-ranging issues although we cannot divulge the agenda," Pandey told IANS. The NSCN-IM would be led by general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah, while officials from the central home ministry and intelligence agencies are expected to participate in the negotiations.
New Delhi and NSCN-IM have held more than 55 rounds of peace talks in the past 13 years to end one of South Asia's longest running insurgencies that has killed 25,000 people since 1947.
The NSCN-IM is, however, cynical of the fresh round of talks as they believe the focus of the government emissaries would be to convince Muivah to help end the deadlock in Manipur rather then taking the peace process forward.
"Any issue involving Nagas of Nagaland, Eastern Nagaland (Myanmar) and other Naga areas (in Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh) should be left alone. The meeting (Tuesday) should in no way be considered as political talks between the government of India and the Nagas as it is clearly a localized issue revolving around an individual's visit to his native village in Manipur," a statement by the NSCN-IM said.
Manipur is in turmoil since April. First, Naga groups residing in Manipur enforced an indefinite economic blockade protesting the state government's decision to hold autonomous council elections.
The decision by Muivah to visit his ancestral village in Manipur's Ukhrul district led to bloody clashes. Three people were killed in police firing May 6. The Manipur government has banned Muivah's visit saying it would incite tension.
The deadlock over the issue has led to several Naga groups enforcing an indefinite economic blockade of Manipur. Hundreds of trucks carrying food and essential goods have been stranded in Nagaland as protesters have laid seige to National Highway 39 - the main lifeline to Manipur.
This has triggered a food crisis in Manipur, with the state forced to airlift supplies of even medicines. Hospitals have been compelled to stop routine surgeries due to dearth of oxygen cylinders.
"No matter the amount of animosity, hatred and bad blood between Manipur government and Nagas of Manipur, emotion should not betray sanity and reason," the NSCN-IM statement said, adding that the Meiteis (the majority community in Manipur) and Nagas of Manipur would "co-exist for as long as man walks on earth". During earlier talks, the NSCN-IM had proposed "a special federal arrangement" to enable the Nagas self-governance but the negotiations ended inconclusively.
"It was agreed in earlier meetings to explore and discuss our demand for a special federal relationship between India and Nagalim (Greater Nagaland) that allows us self-governance," a senior NSCN-IM leader told IANS.
The NSCN-IM has been struggling for nearly six decades to create a 'Greater Nagaland' by slicing off parts of three neighbouring states to unite 1.2 million Nagas. The demand is opposed by Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. The rebel leadership blamed New Delhi for failing to meet their demands -- even 13 years after the ceasefire. "The progress of the talks is very slow. We cannot be patient always as there is a limit to everything though we believe in a political solution to our problem rather than a military one," the NSCN-IM leader said.
RESPONSE TO N. BIREN
Dated Tahamzam, May 30, 2010

The statement of Government of Manipur’s (GOM) spokesman N. Biren as appeared in local dailies once again highlights the immaturity of the GOM led by its CM Ibobi Singh.
The spokesman has taken pains to state that the government will protect non-Manipuris living in the state with full proof. We would like to know if the same “full proof” protection also extends to the people whom the Manipur government claims as its people, particularly the Nagas. If the recent state sponsored terrorism in Mao Gate where two students Loshuo and Chakho were shot dead point blank and more than hundred civilians injured is any indication, we are left with no option but to conclude that this “full proof” protection does not extend to the Nagas whom the Manipur government claims as its own.
We would also like to point out that until the coming of the murderous Manipur IRB and Commandos, Naga areas were peaceful. And the spokesman is right, “no community or race in this planet would remain a silent spectator when their very peaceful co-existence had ever been disturbed”. As the GOM has broken the peace in the Naga areas and continues to use all the resources at its disposal to undo the peace that Nagas have fought for, Nagas cannot be “mere spectators”. In the face of the aggression and disregard for Naga lives displayed by the GOM, Nagas are more than ever resolved to stand up for their rights.
Past and present actions of the GOM clearly indicate its communal nature. How can it be otherwise when the murder of two innocent students, shot dead at point blank range, is just termed as “so unfortunate”. Mr. Biren, an event is “unfortunate” when they happen beyond one’s control. The incident of 6th May was a result of the GOM expressed instructions to its security personnel to use force and informed by intentional actions. The students did not just die, they were murdered by your terrorist Manipur government’s forces. Such therefore is not just “so unfortunate” but an intentional crime. Further, if it had been someone from your own Meitei community, Ministers like you led by your CM would have raced to the spot, met family members and the locals. Has any of you done that despite the lapse of so many days since the incident? No, but you have been busy issuing false propaganda against the Nagas.
We doubt if the GOM has any political will to take action against those who commit crime. It is open knowledge that your own colleague and friend Mr. Ranjit, Works Minister shot at Mr. Koteshwar, Advocate General of Manipur. Did you even constitute an enquiry into the incident? Forget about following the rule of law, did your government even attempt it? Given these, are we going to be assured that justice will be done and that “action against those personnel as per the provision of law if found guilty” will be taken ? “If found guilty” being the catchphrase here, let it be known that given the series of injustice meted out to the Nagas, and the fact that the GOM is complicit in the actions and crimes committed on 6th May at Mao Gate, we are under no illusion that justice will be done.
Mr. Biren, we find it ironic that you accuse of others robbing when you yourself is responsible and guilty of robbing millions and millions from developmental funds meant for the hill people. Further, we want to question whether you sent your brother, President of Information Center for Hill Areas Manipur

(ICHAM), to the hill areas to ascertain the vulnerability of the hill people to formulate and plan how you can rob them further? Please wash the dirt off yourself before you accuse others of being dirty.
When you say that the problem in Manipur is “between Mr. Muivah who is openly challenging the territorial integrity of Manipur and people of Manipur one side who say no to him” what people of Manipur do you have in mind? Your Meitei community? Are the Nagas included in your definition of the “people of Manipur”? If Nagas are included in your definition then you have no business saying that it is the people of Manipur who say no to Mr. Muivah’s visit, for Nagas are clear and resolved in their desire to have Mr. Muivah come among their midst. As such not respecting their decision is clearly an indication of the communal nature of your government.
Mr. Biren, when you and your Manipur government point your dirty fingers at Mr. Muivah, you are pointing at the whole Naga people. Mr. Muivah is our leader and we have given him the mandate and support to seek a solution to the Indo-Naga political problem. Your actions are just sinister designs to break the unity of the Nagas and we are very clear about the “sincerity” of your Manipur government and yourself.
If you and your Manipur Government cannot even understand the simple fact that there is no ‘Greater Nagaland” or “Smaller Nagaland”, maybe you should not shoot your mouth off like an expert. For Nagas, there is just the land that belongs to the Nagas, nothing more nothing less. Do not ridicule yourself and display your stupidity to the public.
Mr. Biren, we are not going to stoop to your Government’s level of using stooges to espouse your cause. We are aware that you have misinformed and brainwashed Nagas in your illicit payroll who do your dirty laundry. We know that their loyalty to you will end the moment you are unable to feed their greed. Further, we are unfazed by their actions because we know that the truth and the Naga people’s actions now are based on it.
Mr. Biren and the GOM, your politics is a politics based on the appeasement of the majority population of Manipur and as such it will always suffer from shortsightedness and immaturity which has been amply demonstrated by the actions of your security forces at Mao Gate on 6th May and the myriad of problems that defines Manipur.

GPRN/NSCN declares its stand morungexpress
Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): Anticipating another round of parleys between Mr. R.S Pandey and Th. Muivah scheduled to be held in Nagaland, the GPRN/NSCN has stated that if the meeting does takes place as reported, “GPRN/NSCN would only hope that the time tested peaceful co-existence between the Meiteis and Nagas of Manipur state would be restored to its rightful position”.
A press note issued by the MIP pointed out that the “Indian delegation and IM should clearly understand that GPRN/NSCN along with the rest of the Nagas in Nagaland state, Eastern Nagas and other states considers that RS Pandey’s visit is primarily to resolve the issue between Manipur Government and Nagas of Manipur state represented by Th. Muivah”.
“It is therefore pertinent to note that any issue involving Nagas of Nagaland, Eastern Nagaland and other Naga areas should be left alone. The meeting should, in no way, be considered as political talks between GOI and the Nagas as it is clearly a localized issue revolving around an individual’s visit to his native village in Manipur”, stated the MIP.
The GPRN/NSCN believed that “no matter the amount of animosity, hatred and bad blood between Manipur Government and Nagas of Manipur generated recently, emotion should not betray sanity and reason” and that “Meiteis and Nagas of Manipur will co-exist for as long as man walks on earth”.
“Naga inhabited areas in Manipur cannot be uprooted and planted in the centre of Nagaland state, Assam or Eastern Nagaland. Civil Societies, NGO’s, intellectuals, community elders etc. making emotionally unstable speeches at this hour is unwise”, the GPRN/NSCN stated while pointing out that “talk of severing all ties with any community is impractical and self defeating”.
“Future generation Nagas in Manipur must be given a chance to live in peace and harmony with other communities. Age old bond, respect for each others rights, customs, traditions must be maintained. Killings, inflammatory and counterproductive measures should not be the only route to towards seeking objectives”, the MIP note stated.
